A decentralized society
Emerging disruptive technologies, especially Blockchain, show us that living in a decentralized world is not a distant utopia. The emergence of cryptocurrencies, particularly Bitcoin, based on this same technology, opened the door to the hope of generating more innovations that lead people to depend less on third parties when carrying out transactions, contracts and daily activities.
Humanity in relation to the social environment has been in constant evolution, the major changes in the functioning of societies are linked to the advances of industry and technology. In the classification of societies, the evolution of 1.0 society reflects the norms and practices that prevailed from the preindustrial society to the industrial society; 2.0 society refers to the enormous social transformations that are taking place in today’s society and that find their origin, mainly, in technological change; and 3.0 society refers to the society of our most immediate future, for which huge transformations are predicted as a result of accelerated technological change.
Our society applies to a classification 3.0, the society of the future, for some perhaps that of a distant future, for others more visionary it is something much more real, great social changes, accelerated technological progress, increase of globalization and horizontal redistribution of the knowledge and relationships. Decentralized technological processes generate an economic change of impressive value and lead society to give value to the application of these processes not only to the economy, but to everything related to governmental and social models, in areas such as health, education, etc. The current centralized management models are dysfunctional, they generate from global environmental problems to frustration with the way they work.
Blockchain technology is projected as the basis to implement decentralized processes, in which there is no central control of information or processes, bringing individuals greater freedom, by assuming models of decentralized digital identity, such as the Self Sovereign Identity project, whose vision is a future in which users manage and own their digital identity without relying on central entities.
Every day there are more advances in the implementation of technologies focused on decentralization, but there is still a long way to go, and it is necessary that technologies such as Blockchain evolve beyond the use of cryptocurrencies, going from being a layer of protocols and technology, to work as a base for applications of mass use, such as browsers, search engines, social networks, etc.
Decentralized systems work in favor of the needs of people, regardless of their economic and social status, this leads to decentralization as a possible development path for the world and Blockchain technology as a model to create a decentralized economy, opens a window to the future to show us how this decentralized world could be.
One of the most difficult fields to decentralize is the government, but carefully analyzing what has been happening regarding the management of institutions for the use of Blockchain and cryptocurrencies, we observe a definitive trend that leads us to a new model, which although not be 100% decentralized, it can be used for the improvement of many current aspects through decentralization.
The emergence of Bitcoin implies the decentralization of the economy in terms of money generation and management, this concept takes away an important part of the capacities that public administrations now have, so if they want to continue being relevant in aspects such as Institutional governance, should take full advantage of the possibilities offered by technology in this regard.
Countries such as Sweden and Estonia reflect that there will be more and more governments and public institutions that dare to use decentralized technologies such as Blockchain, in order to provide not only security but the generation of confidence of citizens in processes such as finance, hiring, voting, which will lead to the citizen having more and more prominence.
Government processes related to education, health, public services and many more can be more effective with the implementation of decentralization technologies, since one of the advantages of having a decentralized public administration is that it would solve some current problems that these organizations have, such as the corruption issue, in case of implementing technologies such as Smart Contract on Blockchain, that would make it impossible to pay a political bribe for the assignment of a contract.

With the advance and implementation of robotic technologies and artificial intelligence, decentralization processes can be faster. This would lead to many people becoming unemployed in the coming years, many of these will have no choice but to stay at home and find new ways to spend time. This is where virtual worlds are expected to be important players in the coming years.
